Yanqing is a famous snow resort in Beijing. The annual Ice and Snow Fun Festival has developed from single ice lantern art exhibition to a comprehensive regional event incorporating tourism, culture, contests, commerce and trade, and folklore. The Ice and Snow Fun Festival has become a well-known brand in Beijing and even North China. It is held from mid-January to the end of February each year and offers many leisure and recreation items and tourism, culture and sports activities, such as climbing the Great Wall, viewing ice lanterns, playing on ice and in snow, bathing in hot springs, appreciating folklore and spending New Year's Eve.
