As autumn approaches, Yanqing presents a colorful and charming picture dotted with red leaves and ripe fruits. Due to a higher altitude and a cooler climate, it is the first of all districts and counties in Beijing to embrace the season of harvest. Here tourists can find the Great Wall that winds amid mountains covered with red-leaf plants and vast expanses of fruits and vegetables ready to pick. In addition, some ten thousand mus of chrysanthemums are in full bloom at the Flower Sea of Four Seasons, exotic plants allure tourists with their refreshing aroma at Liuxiang Valley, and the 100-li Mountain and Water Corridor resembles a spectacular painting of red and yellow. In Yanqing, tourists can spend the autumn in a fun and interesting way by cycling, mountaineering, viewing red leaves, enjoying flowers, picking fruits and trying local cuisine. They can also take part in a lot of large-scale tourism, cultural, and sport events held in the county.
Flower Sea of Four Seasons
Home to some ten thousand mus of flowers including marigolds and ground-cover chrysanthemums, it becomes a spectacular sea of flowers in the golden autumn. Surrounded by hills, the vast expanse of land is covered with red, yellow, purple and white flowers.

Liuxiang Valley
Nestled among hills, it is home to the Pearl Spring as well as a Cupid, a large windmill and an exotic log cabin. Also, the valley is planted with several hundred mus of flowers including garden cosmos, cockscombs, zinnia elegans, purple perillas, verbenas, cleomes, straw daisies, and globe amaranths. There are also some 400 mus of lavenders that attract tourists with their romantic purple and refreshing aroma.

Red Leaves
In autumn, the precipitous mountains covered in red and yellow, offer a splendid spectacle. Red leaves blanket ancient sections such as Badaling and Shuiguan of the Great Wall and the 100-li Mountain and Water Corridor. In national forest parks including Songshan Mountain, Yudu Mountain and Badaling, ridges and valleys are covered with red leaves of different shades, presenting a spectacular landscape.

Picking Fruits and Vegetables
Zhangshanying is a town that receives the most medals in China for its grapes. Its munage and jingxiangyu varieties are highly reputed throughout Beijing. In Badaling Township, tourists have opportunities to enjoy corns that have fruity tastes. They can also find colorful and tasty sweet potatoes at Xiwanghua in Shenjiaying Township, delicious raspberries at Jinbairui in Yongning Township and healthy chestnuts and chestnut mushrooms in Dazhuangke Township. Tourists can tour free of charge the 2,008 meter long pumpkin corridor and pick some 50 varieties of pumpkins and other vegetables at Huakun Ecological Garden in Dayushu Township.
